Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum ("The Sealed Nectar") is Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri's biography of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, written for a worldwide seerah competition organised by the Muslim World League and awarded first prize at a ceremony in Makkah in 1979. This is the original Arabic edition, drawing on classical sources such as Ibn Hisham, Ibn Ishaq, and Ibn Kathir.
Why This Book Won First Prize
The Muslim World League invited scholars worldwide to submit new biographies of the Prophet ﷺ, and hundreds of manuscripts were reviewed by the judging committee. Al-Mubarakpuri's manuscript was selected for the top prize, presented in Makkah in 1399 AH (1979 CE). Its combination of careful sourcing — weighing conflicting narrations from the classical biographers rather than repeating them uncritically — with a readable narrative style is widely credited for setting it apart from other entries. The book has since been through numerous editions and translated into more than twenty languages.
