Summarized Tafsir Fathul Qadeer (Mukhtasar Fath al-Qadeer) is an abridged Arabic edition of Imam Muhammad ibn Ali ash-Shawkani's tafsir, published by Darussalam in two hardcover volumes. The full title, Fath al-Qadeer al-Jami' Bayna Fannay al-Riwayah wa'l-Dirayah min 'Ilm al-Tafsir, describes its method directly: it draws on riwayah (transmitted reports from the Qur'an, hadith, and the Sahaba) alongside dirayah (linguistic and reasoned analysis) to explain each verse.

About the Author /

Imam ash-Shawkani (1759-1834 CE / 1173-1250 AH) served as chief judge (Qadi al-Qudah) of Sana'a, Yemen, and wrote across hadith, fiqh, and Quranic exegesis. He was known for weighing evidence directly from the Qur'an and Sunnah rather than following a single school of jurisprudence without question, an approach that carries through into how Fath al-Qadeer treats differences of scholarly opinion.

What's Inside This Edition /

This is the abridged (mukhtasar) edition of the original five-volume Fath al-Qadeer, condensed into two volumes and 1,840 pages while keeping the verse-by-verse structure. Each entry moves through the relevant narrations, then the linguistic and legal points the verse raises, without extended digressions into weak or unreliable reports.

Who This Edition Is For / لمن هذه الطبعة

This edition suits Arabic-reading students of tafsir who want a single reference that combines narration-based and reasoning-based commentary in one text, rather than switching between separate riwayah and dirayah works. Its abridged length also makes it more practical for regular study than the full five-volume original.
