Methodical Interpretation of the Noble Quran is the English translation of Dr. Ahmad Nawfal's al-Tafsir al-Manhaji (Methodical Tafsir), a Quran commentary written as a structured course rather than a reference book. Darussalam currently stocks three parts: Part 28, Part 29 and Part 30 (Juz 'Amma) — the last three sections of the Quran, and the ones most people recite and memorize first.
About This Tafsir Series
Each part works through the Quran juz by juz, breaking every section into short lessons built around one theme or group of verses. A lesson typically includes the Arabic text, a vocabulary list, a plain-language explanation of the verses, key points drawn from the passage, and comprehension or reflection questions at the end. It was written for students with no prior background in Arabic or classical tafsir, which is why Darussalam's English edition is used in weekend Islamic schools and study circles as well as by individual readers working through the Quran on their own.
Dr. Nawfal and his team deliberately started the series with Part 30, then Part 29, then Part 28, rather than beginning at Part 1 — these three parts contain the surahs most Muslims already recite in daily prayer, which makes them the easiest entry point into the fuller series.

About the Author
Dr. Ahmad Nawfal leads the authorship team behind al-Tafsir al-Manhaji, working with co-authors who hold doctorates in Tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis). The Arabic original was reviewed by the Jordanian scholar Dr. Umar al-Ashqar. Darussalam publishes the English translation, rendered by Abu Bakr Salmaan bin Nasir.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a full Quran translation, or a commentary?
It's a tafsir (commentary) built for guided study, not a standalone translation. Each lesson includes the relevant Arabic verses alongside vocabulary help and explanation, but it's meant to be studied lesson by lesson rather than read straight through as a translation.
Do I need to buy Part 28, 29 and 30 together?
No. Each part is a complete, self-contained volume covering its own section of the Quran, and they're sold individually. Buy whichever part covers the surahs you want to study.
Why does Darussalam only stock Parts 28-30 and not the full 30-part set?
These are the three parts Dr. Nawfal's team published first, since they cover the surahs recited most often in daily prayer. They remain the most widely available parts of the series in English.
Is this suitable for someone with no background in Arabic or tafsir?
Yes. It was written as a teaching text for students of all ages, with vocabulary lists and plain-language explanation built into every lesson, and is used in weekend Islamic school programs as well as by individual readers.
Does the page count reflect the length of each part's content, or the number of lessons?
Page count reflects the full lesson content for that part, including vocabulary sections and exercises, not just the Quranic text — which is why Part 30 (295 pages) runs longer than Part 28 (212 pages) despite covering a similar number of surahs.
Is this the same as the Noble Quran translation Darussalam also sells?
No. Interpretation of the Meanings of the Noble Quran is the Hilali-Khan translation of the complete Quran. This series is a separate lesson-based tafsir covering only Parts 28-30.
