The Complete Sahih Al-Bukhari in English — 9 Volume Set

This is the full 9-volume English translation of Sahih Al-Bukhari — not an abridged or single-volume edition — containing 7,563 authenticated hadiths compiled by Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari over 16 years of painstaking verification. Second in authority only to the Qur'an, Sahih Al-Bukhari (often written Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Al-Bukhari Sharif, or Al-Boukhari) remains the most trusted hadith collection in Islamic scholarship. This Darussalam edition presents Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan's direct, practical English translation alongside the original Arabic text, organised by book and chapter for daily reference, study, and teaching.

Who Was Imam Bukhari?

Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari (194–256 AH) began collecting hadith as a young scholar, eventually examining over 600,000 narrations before selecting only those he could verify through unbroken, reliable chains of transmission. His rigour is why Sahih Al-Bukhari — literally "the authentic collection of Bukhari" — is treated as the gold standard against which other hadith books are measured.

What Is Sahih Al-Bukhari? Inside This 9-Volume Set

Sahih Al-Bukhari is divided into books (kutub) covering nearly every area of a Muslim's life: faith and belief, prayer (As-Salat), zakat, fasting, Hajj and pilgrimage rites, marriage and family, trade and business dealings, jihad, manners and conduct, and the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in daily life. This set spans all of it across 9 hardcover volumes, roughly 4,000 pages in total, with:

  • Side-by-side Arabic and English text on every page
  • 17 x 24 cm hardback format, fine paper, wide margins for personal annotation
  • 1–150 chapters per volume, organised into clearly categorised subtopics
  • Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan, also known for his work on the Noble Qur'an translation, published by Darussalam

Standard Edition vs. Golden Edition — Which Should You Choose?

Both editions contain the identical, complete 9-volume translation — the text and translation quality are exactly the same. The Golden Edition adds gilded gold page edges, making it a premium, gift-worthy set well suited for weddings, Eid, graduation, or a masjid/madrasah library donation. The Standard Edition offers the same authentic translation in our regular hardback finish, ideal for everyday personal study.

Why This Edition of Sahih Bukhari

No weak chains, no omissions, no abridging — this is the verified core Sahih Al-Bukhari text in full, not a summarised version. It's trusted by students of Islamic knowledge, imams, khateebs, and households across the UK for daily reference, in-depth study, and as a lasting cornerstone of any Islamic library.

Who This Set Is For

  • Students of hadith and Islamic studies who need the complete, unabridged text
  • Imams, khateebs, and teachers preparing lessons or khutbahs
  • Families building a serious home Islamic library
  • Gifting for weddings, graduations, and Eid (Golden Edition)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the complete Sahih Al-Bukhari, or just Volume 9?

This is the complete 9-volume set — all volumes of Sahih Al-Bukhari's English translation, not a single volume.

Who was Imam Bukhari and why is his collection so trusted?

Imam Bukhari examined over 600,000 hadith narrations and selected only 7,563 he could verify through unbroken chains of transmission, spending 16 years on the work. That rigour is why Sahih Al-Bukhari (Sahih Bukhari) is ranked second in authority only to the Qur'an.

Is Sahih Al-Bukhari (Sahih Bukhari Sharif) available in English?

Yes. This edition is Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan's full English translation, presented alongside the original Arabic text across all 9 volumes — so you get the hadees in English and Arabic side by side.

How many volumes and hadiths does Sahih Al-Bukhari contain?

Sahih Al-Bukhari contains 7,563 authenticated hadiths across 9 volumes, covering faith, prayer, zakat, fasting, Hajj, trade, marriage, and daily conduct.

What's the difference between the Standard and Golden Edition?

Both contain the identical complete 9-volume translation. The Golden Edition adds gilded gold page edges for a premium finish; the Standard Edition is our regular hardback.

Who translated this edition of Sahih Al-Bukhari?

Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan, whose English translation is widely used for its direct, practical rendering suited to everyday study and application — the same translator behind a well-known Noble Qur'an translation.

How is this different from a summarised Sahih Bukhari?

Summarised editions condense the collection into a single volume by removing repeated chains of narration. This set is the full, unabridged 9-volume translation — every hadith, every chapter, exactly as compiled by Imam Bukhari.

The Bukhari collection of Hadith is clearly the greatest set of books in the entire Islamic tradition after The Glorious Qur'an. For those who are not looking to get too in-depth with hadith study, I would instead recommend Riyadh-us-Saliheen (translates: Gardens of the Righteous) by Imam Nawawi which is a collection from Bukhari and other Imams that produced hadith literature and is a summarized volume of many ahadith. Also I would recommend "Bukhari Summarized" by Darussalam which is an abbreviated version of this in one significantly shorter volume. This is a must for those students that want to get really in-depth but for the average Muslim seeking a less scholarly amount of literature for digest, I wouldn't recommend this full collection.
