Start with the basics of Islam

Islam: A Total Beginner’s Guide, Part 1 is an easy first read on the basics of the faith, and Islam: Salvation for Mankind introduces Islam from the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah. Bearing True Witness of Islam by Dr Laurence B. Brown helps recent converts with the practical and theological questions that follow embracing Islam, and Religious Fundamentals That Every Muslim Should Know About explains the essential beliefs with evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Learn to pray and make dua

Prayer is the first obligation after the declaration of faith. The Prayer and Purification gives step-by-step guidance on wudu, ghusl and salah, and Before You Pray covers the preparations and prerequisites for a correct prayer. Fortress of the Muslim is a pocket collection of authentic duas for daily life, and Friday (Al Jumuah): A Day of Worship explains the Sunnah and etiquette of the weekly Jumuah. More are in our Dua and Namaz books.

A gift for a new Muslim

The Gift for Reverts Bundle brings together four first books: a complete English Quran with translation, a book of daily duas, a commentary on Riyadus Saliheen and an accessible Seerah. To choose a Quran yourself, see our Quran with English translation, or share Islam with a friend through our dawah books.

Books in French and Spanish

For French readers, Les Conditions de l’Islam et les Dix Annulatifs and Les Piliers de l’Islam cover the basics, and Notre Prophète Mouhammad tells the life of the Prophet ﷺ. For Spanish readers, Los Tres Principios Fundamentales and La Oración en el Islam are available.

Frequently asked questions

What books should a new Muslim read first?

Start with a short introduction such as Islam: A Total Beginner’s Guide, then a prayer guide such as The Prayer and Purification, and a dua book such as Fortress of the Muslim.

How can a new Muslim learn to pray?

The Prayer and Purification explains wudu, ghusl and the steps of salah, and Before You Pray covers what you need in place before you begin.
